Advanced flight training is also available for members who have attained their solo rating.

MAAA wings are awarded for the following:

Solo Rating:
(Bronze wings for model aircraft weighing less than 2 Kg) or (Silver wings for model aircraft weighing more than 2 Kg).

Note: The Bronze wings weight specifications are.. < or = to 2Kg dry weight excluding fuel or < or = to 2Kg including all batteries if electric powered. (multirotors are silver wings only and not weight dependant)

The next achievement / rating a member may attain (this is completely optional and is not mandatory) are the MAAA Gold wings.

The Gold wings represent a major achievement in the flying of radio control model aircraft and consist of a set of advanced manouvres, links for which are provided below:

Powered Fixed Wing:

Multi Rotor:

Training for gold wings is conducted by an MAAA accredited Instructor and is available by request upon contacting the WAMASC CFI Mr Roy Lewis via the Club's email address.

You will then be appointed an MAAA accredited Instructor for training to Gold wings level, please note that the training provided is intentionally kept low key and non stressful to maximize enjoyment of the sport, there is no time limit specified to reach the desired level of flying and at the end of the day having fun is what it is all about.

If one should wish to become an MAAA accredited Instructor, club approval must first be sought and the additional requirements thereafter are as follows:

1: Good Instructional background and or experience (in order to attain this experience, one can request to become a club approved instructor first, this facilitates your training in instructional techniques in order to achieve safe and efficient instruction of a student pilot).

2: The applicant must hold or be able to attain the gold wings rating (performed to a very high standard).

An MAAA accredited Instructor may conduct students solo examinations (excepting their own students) and may also examine applicants for their gold wings rating.

These ratings are recognized Australia wide.
